In the heart of Kakuma, a 25-year-old Congolese refugee, Maria Mayundo, is turning her dreams into reality through Resilience Action International (RAI). Maria's story is one of determination, skill-building, and entrepreneurship, showcasing how the right training and support can transform lives.

Maria was a beneficiary of RAI's tailoring program and Entrepreneurship program. She embarked on this journey with a vision in mind – to master the art of tailoring and become a successful entrepreneur. After completing her training at the RAI campus, equipped with newfound skills and knowledge, Maria was ready to take her first steps towards her dream.

With unwavering determination, Maria acquired a sewing machine and set up her own tailor shop. Today, she crafts beautiful dresses, blouses, hats, and various other clothing items, each a testament to her growing talent and creativity.

In her own words, Maria shares her journey:

"I am glad I joined the tailoring class at RAI. I have learned a lot and expanded my skills, and now, I get to work in my own shop doing what I love."

Maria's success story is a shining example of how RAI's programs are not just about training; they're about empowering individuals to take control of their futures. By providing refugees like Maria with the skills, resources, and support they need, RAI is not only changing individual lives but also contributing to the economic growth and resilience of the Kakuma community.

Maria's entrepreneurial spirit and dedication serve as an inspiration to her peers and a reminder that dreams can become a reality, even in challenging circumstances. Her flourishing tailor shop not only showcases her talent but also represents the resilience and potential of refugees when given the opportunity to thrive.

As Maria continues to create beautiful clothing and build her business, she embodies the spirit of empowerment and self-sufficiency that RAI strives to instill in all its beneficiaries. Her story is a testament to the transformative power of education, training, and determination, and it underscores the importance of providing opportunities for refugees to pursue their passions and achieve their dreams.
